Our story
Proovia started in 2014 as a small family operation, with the Rusu family doing the collection and delivery themselves.
As the business grew, the day-to-day ran on spreadsheets — tracking shipments, planning driver routes, and managing customers all by hand.
In 2018, Proovia moved onto a custom-built operations system, developed with technology partner APPZ Limited. It started with two things the Rusu family asked for first — a route planner that could sequence a day's deliveries automatically, and customer notifications — and grew from there to cover driver management, warehouse tracking, and SMS updates through each delivery. That system carried Proovia through its fastest years of growth, and we're now moving onto our own in-house platform.
The service predates the current legal entity: founded by the Rusu family, who started the Proovia delivery service in Birmingham in 2014 and continue to lead its day-to-day operations. The company that now operates the service, Proovia Couriers Ltd, was incorporated on 11 November 2020.
Today, Proovia runs as a platform from our hub at Fort Dunlop in Birmingham, connecting independent drivers — who bring their own vehicle — with our dispatch and customer support team — a long way from the single van in 2014.
Where we cover
We deliver across England, Wales and mainland Scotland — including parts of the Highlands closer to our network. We don't currently reach the more remote Highlands areas, Northern Ireland, offshore UK islands or the Republic of Ireland — check your postcode at booking to confirm.
What we deliver
If it's large or awkward to move, we can probably help — Proovia takes on items other couriers turn down. Beyond furniture, we've delivered garden items, golf clubs, motorcycles, pianos, sports equipment and car parts like gearboxes. A few things we don't take: animals, liquids, weapons, cars and vans, hot tubs, grand pianos, or chemicals.
That covers single large-item deliveries, eBay and auction collections, and full residential removals. Delivery point (front door, ground floor, or room of choice) depends on your service tier, and every job runs on a two-person crew with real-time tracking from collection to delivery. How we work
Vehicles are sized to the job — from Luton vans for single-item runs up to larger vehicles for full house moves.
Every job is carried out by a two-person crew from our network of independent drivers, who bring their own vehicle and experience handling large, heavy and awkward items. Items are covered with moving blankets and secured with straps for transport, and the crew talks you through it rather than treating it as just another drop-off.
Routes are planned for efficiency — a practice that goes back to one of the first things the Rusu family asked for when Proovia moved off spreadsheets in 2018: a route planner that could sequence a day's jobs automatically. Faster, more direct routes also reduce time on the road and fuel use — a practical result of planning for efficiency, rather than a separate environmental programme.
Our team also gives back locally: in May 2025, we helped clean up Brookvale Park in Birmingham.
Partnerships
We're a UK delivery partner for Vinterior, handling eligible furniture deliveries between UK sellers and buyers. We also work with UK technology partner APPZ Limited, who helped build the operations platform that carried Proovia's growth from 2018 onward. We were featured by Interparcel in 2023 as a specialist courier for oversized items.
